Luxor Poker Room

The staff in the Luxor Casino are very friendly. I met Ken Nelson, who is a slot attendant, in the high limit room a few years back. He always makes a point to come say hello and chat for a few moments every time he sees me. Being recognized and addressed by the employees makes me feel special, and very comfortable in their casino. BetMGM Sportsbook at Luxor. The nine-table poker room at the Las Vegas Luxor casino resort is due to close its doors on 18 June, reducing the total number of poker rooms on the Las Vegas strip to 18.
Casino employees were informed of the room’s closure by MGM officials on Friday. MGM also operate poker rooms at the Bellagio, Aria, Excalibur and Mandalay Bay resorts.
In all, 22 poker rooms in the city have closed over the last six years and this latest closure is the third in 2017 following the group’s closure of its Monte Carlo casinos poker room last month.

Luxor Poker Room Closing

Over the last few years revenue growth from poker rooms in Las Vegas has stagnated, with year on year poker figures nowhere near reaching the same level as they did during the height of its popularity on the strip over a decade ago.
Michael Lawton, Senior Research Analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board told CardPlayer.com that “the proliferation of casinos across the United States has decreased the need for players to travel to Nevada to play poker.
“At this point the consensus is that traditional poker will not experience any significant growth without a national interactive component to support growth in traditional poker by introducing new players to the game.”
